The Bourne Legacy

Let me say this first, you must watch the first three Bourne movies to understand this spin-off of the franchise.  Jermey Renner, plays Aaron Cross, a super-soldier created by a secretive U.S. government program in the movie. I really think that Renner is the next big great action movie stars, you have seen him in  “The Hurt Locker,” along with his roles in “Mission” Impossible: Ghost Protocol” and “Marvel’s The Avengers.”

In the movie Cross has two take two pills – one that gives him above-average intelligence and another that increases his strength and abilities. The pills are part of a top-secret program. There are many soldiers in the program and even Cross doesn’t know how many other super-soldiers like him are out there.

Through the whole movie he is seeking closure, he wants to know why the government is trying to kill him and he is running low on his pills. This brings him in touch with pharmacist Marta Shearing (Oscar-winner Rachel Weisz.
The rest of the film has Cross and Shearing running off together, trying to escape government agents who are trying to kill them and now Dr. Shearing. The action scenes are amazing, and Renner looks believable. Renner was in the longest motorcycle chase scene near the end of the film, that I wish the Director could had edited (the chase seem like 45 minutes long).
Matt Damon who plays Jason Bourne in the previous movies, of course was absence in this film, but I didn’t mind. The film leaves open the possibility that Bourne and Cross could meet in next film (and I really hope that make another movie).
I really enjoyed the movie, it was action packed and had great fight scenes.  Renner and Weisz is a great match and can't wait until the next Bourne film.

Ted: #1 movie in America

Ted
This past Saturday, I saw the movie Ted, and it was funny. Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy (one of my favorite guilty pleasure cartoon)  brings his weird and pushing the envelope sense of humor to the big screen for the first time as writer, director and voice star of Ted. In the movie, he tells the story of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), a grown man who must deal with the  teddy bear who came to life as the result of a childhood wish when he was 8 years old and they refused to leave each other side. He must choose between his Bear and his long time girlfriend (Mila Kunis).

This movie has strippers, fart jokes, a bear smoking pot (WTF), a foul-mouthed teddy bear, a teddy bear having sex and etc.  Overall, this movie is funny as hell and a great comedy.

Spoiler Alert:  Ryan Reynolds made a small cameo in this film as well.

Rated: R
Time: 1 hr 55 minutes

Tia and Tamera: Episode 3: Are you Jealous?

So, I have two favorite reality shows this year.  Mary Mary and Tia and Tamera, positive black women on TV (thank you God).

In this episode, Tamera struggles to find balance between her life in Los Angeles and her new home in Napa with her new husband. Tia also lands a musical movie in Utah, which leaves Tamera wondering why she doesn’t get the same opportunities (side-note: Tamera loves to sing) Is Tamera jealous of Tia’s new musical movie?  In my opinion, I think more people look at Tia because of her fame from the "Game".

Tamera decided to make a life in Napa, she took her best friend to her new house.  She's also in the wine business with her husband.  He has a wine company in Napa with his family. Tia struggles in this episode to hit the right notes as she rehearsal the song for the musical.  But at the end of the show, it was beautiful and voice came back.

Stay tuned every Monday at 8/7c on the style network.  They are so fab!

Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta Ep. 2

Ratchetness should be the name of this episode. This show is facing major criticism about the cast members and story line (this is VH1 version of entertainment- they make money selling these types of shows: Mobs wives, BBW, and Love and Hip Hop).   There is currently an online petition to have the show removed from the air citing its "exploitation of the lived experiences of people who may not even know they're being exploited." On the petition there's over 2,200 signatures.

(Note: This might be the last episode that I watch of this show but we will see).

Independent rapper, Rasheeda appears on the first half of the show. She's also a mom and wife to her husband Kirk, they have been marry for twelve years, and he is also her manager. The two don’t always see eye to eye on business (I really hope that the show do not break them up).

We all think the MiMi should leave Stevie J but he must got that "golden/magic stick" or something. (He continues to make her look like a fool and she's allowing it)  But she turned the tables on him in episode 2, she drafted up a contract to become his business partner and she wants 20 percent of his earning from his rapper/mistress/jump-off Joseline.

stevie-apologizes-1340392842

Speaking of Joseline, so she is pregnant by Stevie J. (WTF)  When she told Stevie J., he had a blank expression of his face.  He didn't care at all about her well-being, what do that really say about him and their so-called relationship?

Erica and Lil’ Scrappy decide to move apart while Erica deals with her mommy issues. Scrappy decided to move out the apartment to clear his mind.

Fifty Shades of Grey (movie??)

Have you read the new book phenomenal, 50 shades of grey? If not, where have you been?

Of course, they are turning the trilogy into a movie (typical) but I will be there front row with popcorn.  They are trying to cast the film now, below are some actors that have Christian Grey potential.  What do you think? Who would you cast?

Have anyone read all three books?  I would love for someone to write a review for each book and I would post your review on my blog.

Until next time.

Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Anthony Mackie and Benjamin Walker in 'Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter' (Review)

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, the President that signed the Emancipation Proclamation to freed the slaves, discovers vampires have a plan to take over the United States. After the lost of his mother when he was a young boy, he makes it his mission to destroy them and seek revenge.  This was a very different concept which I loved, some times movies can be very predictable but this movie had a strange twist to it.  America's favorite president, a vampire hunter?????

After years of patiently waiting, Abe Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) seeks revenge of the death of his mother and encounters Henry Sturgess (Dominic Cooper) – he trains Abe in the art of vampire hunting and  how to do tricks with the axe (which was pretty cool to watch). Henry told Abe to avoid making friends and/or starting a family, Lincoln befriends a local shop-keep, Joshua Speed (Jimmi Simpson), courts Mary Todd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and later married , and reconnects with childhood friend/free African-American, William Johnson (Anthony Mackie).

In the movie, the Civil War is a struggle between the living and the undead with our 16th president as a slayer of the bloodsuckers.  The army of the South was actually VAMPIRES! (I was laughing at the movies when I saw them fighting against the troops in the North).

The movie was directed by Tim Burton (Visionary film maker) and Timur Bekmambetov.
Actors: Benjamin Walker, Rufus Sewell, Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper.  Did you know Anthony Mackie (hurt locker, She Hates me, Adjustment Burearu, etc)was in this movie?

(Personal side note: I love how they make the vampires look like vampires and pretty vampires.)
If you love action, vision effects, and vampires then go see this movie.

Grade: A- ( many critics do not agree with me but I will tell them to have an imagination)
Running time: 1 hour 45 minutes

Snowwhite and the Huntsman

Snow White and the Huntman, puts a dark and eerie twist on the classic fairy tale, follows Queen Ravenna (Theron), whose fairest-in-the-land status is threatened by her self-daughter, Snow White (Stewart).
Snow White and the Huntsman Image  The movie take on the classic fairy tale which features an expanded role for the Huntsman (my favorite character in the movie) played by Hemsworth. In the fairy tale, he is ordered to kill her in the forest (the forest is so scary), but instead lets her go and he became her ally. In the new take, the Huntsman acts more as a mentor, teaching Snow White to fight, survive, and kill if neccessary. Overall, this movie was well directed and acted.  The special effects are amazing! I give it a A-

Tami bullied Kyisha to tears

Basketball Wives

I was so disgusted by watching tonight's episode of BBW.  I started a conversation on Facebook that got really interested and decided to take it to the blog.  Tonight's show should me name, "How to spot a Bully and bystanders. "  Tami bullied Kyisha to tears on tonight's episode and the other cast members allowed this to happen.  I understand that Kyisha is a grown woman but she was not strong enough to stand up to Tami and someone should had stepped in.

I HATE to see grown women fighting.  We are supposed to set a positive example for our daughters, nieces, and young girls that look up to us.  We are teaching them to resolve our problems through fighting/acting ugly and not talking like humans beings.  Many young women look at BBW and reality shows similar to this show for entertainment but they are actually acting like these women in the classrooms and out in public.

Tami apology to Kyisha on her twitter but is she actually "sorry" for her actions.

What are your feelings on tonight's episode?  Do you feel that Tami went to far? Did you think that the other cast members should had stepped in earlier?

Scandal

I was so excited to watch the new ABC series Scandal, starting one of my favorite actresses Kerry Washington.  Shonda Rhimes is the creator/writer for this show (She known for created Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice). Kerry Washington stars as Olivia Pope, a former white house communications director who left her awesome government job for starting her own crisis management firm called Olive Pope and Associates. When things go wrong and you want to avoid scandal and negative press, you call on Olivia and her firm.  I think they are "spin doctors".  The pilot episode titled “Sweet Baby” premiered last night on ABC. The pilot was really great and they revealed that Olivia Pope had a relationship with the President!!! (Juicy) but she felt betrayed when he slept with one of his female staff members (of course the President is marry).

Each Thursday you can tune in and watch as the team races against the clock to fix new problems before they become disasters, they will also have to fix their own personal issues. As Columbus Short (one of the actors on the show) said that they are 'gladiators in suits'.  I will be watching every Thursday.

Did anyone watched the show last night? What do you think?

Real Housewives of ATL South Africa Trip Conclusion

Housewives Bus Tour

This episode started off on a good note.  After the ladies left the orphanage and spend money and time with the kids the girls were all getting along.  The ladies realized how good they have it back in Atlanta, after visiting the children at the orphanage the ladies begin to reflect on their lives.

Even NeNe and Sheree were laughing and getting along on the safari - laughing at the zebras.  They are really a cute pair (of friends) but I guess their egos get in the way.  After the Safari, the ladies went to visit a Herbalist and he took the seashells out the bag and wanted to read the ladies future.  He told NeNe that she was very unhappy, Shere that she will never get marry, Phaedra didnt want to do it (and I dont blame her).

That night, Marlo had all the girls to visit her room.  She laid all her clothes and shoes in her room, it was like a vintage boutique.  Marlo, Marlo, Marlo - If I hear Chanel, Louis, or Christian Louboutin.  I'm going to scream!!!!! She had really nice things but do really need to brings 30 pair of shoes to a third world country???? too much for me. But anywho, Marlo woke up the next day sick and with the runs.  (poor baby) NeNe stayed with Marlo and took care of her and the other girls went on their 1000th safari and of course the topic of the conservation was Marlo.  Cynthnia was telling the other girls (smalls) that Marlo is superficial and always talking about money and clothes. The other ladies agree with her, Cythnia also said that Kim probably would not come to Africa and find it hard to visualize Kim there in Africa and Kandi agreed with her.

Im going to take a luck guess and say that the producers put the Smalls up to calling Kim to somehow put her into this episode. The conversation started out okay enough until Sheree took it upon herself to tell Kim that Kandi couldn't picture her in Africa holding little black babies. I was shocked when Sheree told Kim that........WTF? Kandi and Phaedra was shocked when she mentioned that, "Of course I would've gone," said Kim. "I would've had a blast."  So now Kandi and Sheree could be beefing. Let the drama begins with the SMALLS.

Was Sheree wrong to tell Kim about Kandi remarks?

Contraband the Movie Review

Contraband is a light action packed movie for the month of January. I'll give it a B.  You have two great actors in this movie playing husband and wife, Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale (from Underworld).  Mark Walhlberg plays a tough guy/family man name Chris Farraday that used to be a smuggler but got out of the game to have a family with Kate Beckinsale character.

Kate Beckinsale stars in Contraband

(The setting of this movie is in New Orleans)  One day, his wife’s little brother messed up a drug-smuggling run and now he owes money to a loose-cannon thug (Giovanni Ribisi) who not only threatens the little brother and his entire family—including Wahlberg’s wife and kid.  There no way he can pay the thug back the money.  The only thing left - is for Wahlberg's character to do one more run to save his family.  The movie is very predictable, you know everything from point A to Z in this film.  Overall, it was a pretty good movie. Great actors and a simple plot with some actions.
